Kindwren Privacy Policy

What we collect

We keep only what we need to be a good companion to you:

• Your account details — your name (or the name you sign up with), your birth year, and the email address used for your account.
• Your preferences — the support areas and settings you choose, so Kindwren fits how you like to be met.
• Your conversations with Wren — the messages you exchange with the companion, so that Wren can remember your story and your talks can feel continuous instead of starting over each time.
• Your guided-exercise and life-story entries — your answers in wellness exercises and the memories, writing, and photos you add to "My Life Story," so you can build and keep them.
• Basic usage information — simple technical information needed to run the Service securely and reliably, such as sign-in activity and general app usage.

We ask only for a birth year, not a full date of birth, and we do not ask for sensitive identification numbers.

How we use your information

We use your information only to provide and improve Kindwren for you: to create and secure your account, to let Wren remember what you have shared and respond warmly, to save your life story and let you compile it into a keepsake, to show your family the limited summary you have chosen to share, to process your subscription and any top-ups, and to answer you when you contact us for help. We may use general, de-identified information about how the Service is used to make it better — never in a way that identifies you.

What family members can see

Kindwren lets you invite family members to see a small, caring glimpse of how you are doing — and only that. If you turn on family sharing, a family member can see only:

• the date you last spoke with Kindwren, and
• a simple mood trend — positive, neutral, or seeking comfort.

Family members cannot see your messages, your exercise answers, your life-story entries, or the topics you discuss. Those stay private to you. You are always in control and can add or remove family members at any time.

Your voice and Wren's voice

When you choose to hear Wren speak aloud, the text of Wren's reply is sent to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, which turns it into spoken audio using a voice recorded, with permission, from a licensed clinical social worker. This is used only to create the spoken words you hear. Kindwren does not record you or listen through your microphone to create Wren's voice.

Payments

If you subscribe to Premium, buy Founders' Lifetime, or purchase a top-up of voice minutes, your payment is handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your card details directly under its own privacy policy. Kindwren does not see or store your full card number. We keep only basic records of your plan and payment status so we can give you the right access and help you if something goes wrong.

Where your information is kept and how we protect it

Your information is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (provided through Supabase). We use protections such as encrypted connections and access rules so that your private entries — your messages, exercise answers, and life story — are tied to your account and are not open to other users. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit who can reach it.

What we never do

We do not sell your information. We do not use your conversations to advertise to you, and we do not use them for advertising systems. We do not share your private entries with your family members, and we do not share your personal information with outside companies except the trusted service providers we need to run Kindwren (such as our cloud storage, our payment processor, and our voice provider), or when the law requires it. Kindwren is not therapy or medical care, and it does not give medical, legal, or financial advice.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so your companion can remember your story. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information and entries, except for the limited records we must keep for legal, accounting, or security reasons (for example, a record that a payment was made).

Your choices and rights

You are in control of your information. At any time you may:

• See and update your account details and preferences in Settings.
• Add or remove family members and change what is shared.
• Ask us to delete your account and personal information, in Settings or by contacting us — we will remove your data as described above.
• Ask for a copy of the information you have added, including your life story, where practical.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (such as the right to access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of your information). We honor these rights as the law requires. To make any request, please reach us through the Contact page.

Children

Kindwren is for adults, especially older adults, and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Cookies and similar technology

Kindwren uses only the basic technology needed to keep you signed in and to keep the Service secure and working properly. We do not use advertising trackers, and, as stated above, we do not use your activity to advertise to you.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a meaningful change, we will update the "Effective" date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. Your continued use of Kindwren after a change means you accept the updated policy.
